Springhaven Lifestyle Village by Southern Cross Care is designed to promote independence, wellbeing, and community connection. This contemporary retirement village creates a welcoming environment where residents can enjoy an active and fulfilling lifestyle. Every aspect of the development was carefully planned to encourage social interaction, accessibility, and a strong sense of belonging, providing high-quality independent living accommodation for older Tasmanians.
PhilpLighton Architects were appointed to deliver the project as master planners, architects, interior designers, and landscape architects, creating a cohesive residential community that balances functionality, comfort, and timeless design. The integrated approach ensured the buildings, public spaces, streetscapes, and landscaping worked together to foster a safe, connected, and vibrant village environment.
The development comprises 85 two and three-bedroom independent living units, a centrally located village clubhouse, landscaped open spaces, internal roads, and supporting infrastructure. Contemporary architecture is paired with a restrained palette of colours, materials, and finishes to create warm, familiar surroundings that are both low maintenance and highly liveable.
Accessibility, safety, and ease of movement were fundamental design considerations throughout the village. Landscaped communal spaces and shared facilities encourage residents to remain active and socially connected, while thoughtfully designed homes provide privacy, independence, and flexibility to support changing lifestyle needs over time.
The project demonstrates how integrated master planning, architecture, interior design, and landscape design can create residential communities that enhances the users experience. By combining accessible housing, welcoming communal spaces, and contemporary design, the village provides a lasting model for retirement living and independent living developments across Tasmania.
