Havilah Wine Bar is a contemporary hospitality fit-out in the heart of Launceston, designed to celebrate Tasmania’s renowned wine and food culture. Designed by PhilpLighton Architects, the intimate venue transforms an existing space on Charles Street into a refined destination for wine tasting, local produce and memorable dining experiences.
The compact interior has been carefully planned to maximise comfort and functionality while creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. Bespoke Tasmanian furniture, tan leather banquette seating and a striking polished concrete servery are paired with the building’s original plaster walls, blending contemporary design with the character of the existing space.
The project embraces adaptive reuse by retaining and enhancing key elements of the original building rather than replacing them. A natural material palette, quality craftsmanship and carefully considered detailing create a timeless interior that reflects the authenticity of Tasmania’s hospitality industry while providing a flexible space for guests to gather and relax.
