Blue Derby Pods

Blue Derby Pods Ride is an off-grid boutique accommodation development located within the forests surrounding Derby, Tasmania. Designed to support the region’s growing mountain bike tourism industry, the project provides a unique accommodation experience that connects visitors with the surrounding landscape while complementing the internationally recognised Blue Derby trail network.

The development comprises a central hub building incorporating communal dining, staff accommodation and secure bike storage, together with a series of standalone accommodation pods. The layout supports guided mountain bike tours while providing functional shared facilities and private guest accommodation.

The buildings are carefully positioned within a temperate Blackwood forest to minimise site disturbance and maximise connection to the landscape. The accommodation pods provide compact, sheltered spaces that immerse guests in the natural environment, while the off-grid design and restrained material palette reflect the project’s commitment to environmental responsibility and the character of the Derby region.
