The Waggon - North Hobart Renovation

CLIENT: The Waggon
LOCATION: North Hobart, Tasmania
STATUS: Completed
CONTRACTOR: Tim McDevitt Construction
INTERIOR DESIGNER: Valentine Interiors + Design

The refurbishment of the previously known Waggon and Horses Hotel involved alterations to an established North Hobart pub, retaining much of the original building fabric while accommodating updated hospitality facilities and seven new short-stay accommodation rooms.

The works included alterations to the ground-floor hospitality areas, kitchen, bars and amenities, alongside the conversion of the upper level to provide new accommodation. The existing brickwork and exposed concrete structure were retained as part of the design, complemented by polished concrete, handmade tiles and brass detailing to introduce a contemporary layer while respecting the building’s history.

Working with Valentine Interiors + Design and Tim McDevitt Construction, the project brought together the architectural alterations, interior design and construction requirements to deliver a cohesive outcome. The completed refurbishment provides a renewed use for the existing building while maintaining its established character and connection to the North Hobart community.
