The Oral Health Northern Education Centre in Launceston is a healthcare redevelopment project that combines the refurbishment of existing buildings with the construction of new education and clinical facilities. Designed by PhilpLighton Architects, the project provides a modern environment for oral health education, clinical training and the delivery of dental health services across Northern Tasmania.
Located on Kelham Street, the redevelopment improves the functionality and efficiency of the existing facility while creating purpose-built spaces for education, administration and clinical support. The new and existing buildings have been carefully integrated to create a seamless workplace that supports staff, students and healthcare professionals.
The design balances practical healthcare requirements with a contemporary architectural approach. Clean detailing, durable materials and efficient planning create a facility designed for long-term performance, while a photovoltaic façade improves energy efficiency and supports the project’s sustainability goals.
Inside, the interiors are designed to be welcoming, functional and easy to navigate. Patterned flooring assists with wayfinding and introduces warmth and character to the clinical environment, helping create a positive experience for staff, students and visitors.
