The redevelopment of MyState Bank Arena, previously known as the Derwent Entertainment Centre, has transformed one of Tasmania’s premier sporting and entertainment venues into a world-class destination for major events. As the home of the Tasmania JackJumpers, the revitalised arena delivers a distinctly Tasmanian boutique stadium experience while providing a flexible venue for national and international sporting, entertainment, and community events.
From the moment patrons arrive beneath the illuminated entrance canopy, the redeveloped arena creates an unforgettable event experience. Whether cheering on the JackJumpers, attending a live concert, or enjoying a major entertainment event, visitors are welcomed into a vibrant venue designed to bring people together through exceptional hospitality, modern amenities, and outstanding spectator comfort.
The architectural design celebrates Tasmania’s unique landscape, with the striking façade inspired by the rolling hills and mountain ranges surrounding Hobart. Layered arches create depth, movement, and shadow, while expansive interior spaces showcase locally sourced Tasmanian timbers, delivering a warm and contemporary atmosphere that reflects the state’s natural character.
As part of the redevelopment, the stadium was upgraded with state-of-the-art lighting, audio-visual technology, and broadcast infrastructure that meets international standards for televised sporting and entertainment events. Improved accessibility, enhanced spectator facilities, and a versatile multi-purpose function centre ensure the venue can accommodate everything from the elite basketball, and concerts to conferences, exhibitions, and community events.
The MyState Bank Arena redevelopment highlights PhilpLighton’s capability in delivering complex commercial construction, stadium redevelopment, and public infrastructure projects across Tasmania.
