Boasting uninterrupted views, the Campbelltown Clubrooms function centre was oriented to not only overlook the oval and sporting action, but to optimise solar gain. Employing environmentally sustainable strategies throughout, the roof-mounted solar panels heat the hot water for the pool and augment the existing reverse cycle heat pumps, warming change rooms year-round.
With a circulation spine directly connecting change facilities to football, swimming and tennis courts, Philp Lighton identified the opportunity to add a commercial kitchen and function centre, a gym used by the district hospital and town residents, and lawn bowls facilities to the original design brief: a grandstand, and player’s and officials’ change facilities. Furthermore, the pool entry and change facilities were integrated into the design, along with the revitalisation of the cenotaph on which the original ground was built.
