Ulverstone Stadium

The Ulverstone Sports and Leisure Complex is located on the Leven River in Ulverstone Tasmania. It provides the coastal township with an International standard basketball court and acts as catalyst for connecting and revitalising existing infrastructure on site in a community with strong ties to basketball.

The new multi-use stadium links two existing basketball stadia to accommodate over 1000 seated spectators in response to the sport’s popularity in the Ulverstone community. The flexible space has retractable seating and accommodates other sports and community groups giving the community somewhere to come together.

This project created a new multi-use stadium that linked two existing basketball stadia to accommodate an international standard of basketball and over 1000 seated spectators. The flexible space has retractable seating and also accommodates other sports and community groups. It incorporates change facilities, canteen and corporate dining/ bar facilities that link the new and old stadia. The gymnasium is now a unique public building that celebrates its position on the banks of the Leven River. The lantern-like structure on the roof is illuminated to create a lighthouse effect in the evening while allowing controlled natural light to flood the court area throughout the day.
