Tassie Mountain Bike Adventure – Blue Derby Pods Ride

Posted on Thursday 24th November, 2016 | Permalink

Construction has started!

Philp Lighton Architects (PLA) has been working on Blue Derby Pods Ride with Tara and Steve from Echelon Marketing for the past 12 months. This project will be the first eco mountain biking experience in  Tasmania. The accommodation pods are situated in the old tin mining town of Derby. Derby is currently experiencing a boom in mountain bike tourism as the trail network continues to be built upon. PLA staff are passionate adventure seeking participants who enjoy mountain biking, hiking and anything outdoors in Tasmania's backyard. Additional consideration has been taken to assure the pristine environment will not be affected, both during construction and during the daily operation. The project brief was to design a central hub building and five boutique accommodation pods which float within the tree canopy. A central spine of boardwalk links the pods with the hub building and protects the native fauna and flora from pedestrian traffic. The hub building provides adventure seekers a space for relaxation, communal cooking and dinning, amenities, bike storage and workshop. We are excited to announce that this project has commenced construction. With the anticipated completion to be in early April 2017. If you would like to make a booking check this link out here.
